Little Update on Us

I know I have neglected this blog terribly lately.  Maybe I'll get back into the groove of writing in it more often again.  Here are a few updates on us.

I am now 21 weeks pregnant.  It wasn't until last week that I started to really feel the baby kick and now she is kicking all of the time!    I was confused about not feeling movement before that, because I felt all of my other babies kick at around 15-16 weeks, but I guess every pregnancy is different.  Someone told me that if the placenta is in front, the kicking will be harder to feel until later on in pregnancy, so maybe that is what it was.
Whatever the case, she is definitely moving now and even James can feel the little kicks if he touches my stomach.     I only have 19 weeks until my due date!

Caleb finished his Algebra 1 book and will be in Algebra 2 next.  He is also doing really well in History and Science. I am so proud of him.  He is 11 years old now, and God has really gifted him in so many areas...we are going to start using Switched On Schoolhouse for his schooling this year, and if it seems to be working well, we'll use it for Bonnie, Noah, and eventually Ian too.
I heard about Switched on Schoolhouse from the Duggar family, who uses it for their family.  From what I have learrned, these CD's will keep track of your kids grades automatically, along with keeping track with their progress and how many hours they have spent through the day each day.  I think it will be very helpful for me keeping records, and it also has video instructions on how to do each assignment...you can learn more by actually going to their site.  I haven't used it yet but when I have, I'll be sure to write about how it works for us!

As for the Jazz mural I've been working on, I have finally finished it! I will take pictures today, hopefully, and will post them here with before/after for comparison.    I would have had it finished sooner, but it kept raining so often!

One thing that has kept me super busy lately is trying to promote my book. It really is a lot of work.   I have written letters and sent books to many different magazines, pro-life catalogs, and have brought books to different gift shops, Christian book stores, etc in order to try to get it out there.   I have several local shops locally who are selling the books for me - the best place I have found so far is Hospital gift shops. They sell the books faster than anyone else!   The Amazon.com listing is doing well too.    A friend of mine reviewed the book on Jill Stanek's blog the other day...you can read it here. It was really nice!

Sunday afternoon, James and I took all of the kids to the park for a family bike riding session.  We had a little carriage for Noah and Ian to ride in, since they can't ride yet.  It was so much fun ,and the weather was so nice!  (70 - 80 degrees, windy)   Then we all went to Dairy Queen and had some ice cream.   Fun, fun day, full of happy memories.

That's about all I can think of for now!   I hope everyone has had a wonderful Spring so far!

Your post is such a blessing to me today! We are just a week apart in our pregnancies! I am going through the exact thing with the placenta placement and not feeling baby #5. Though yesterday (20 wks) he squirmed quite a bit throughout the day and it was so wonderful!
I can't wait to here your review on Schoolhouse. I have been considering. It sounds too good to be true, really. I have another friend who is going to use Monarch and I'm waiting for her review as well.
    Thank you for the update!

So glad you finally felt the movement too! It is very reassuring, isn't it?

I hope that Switched on Schoolhouse turns out to be a good use of our money....hopefully we will know soon and then I'll post about it and you can have a better idea of what to expect!

How fun to go for a family bike ride! At first, I thought,"Oh no! Her children aren't wearing bike helmets!" But then I remembered that your state probably doesn't have the same laws as CA - everyone under 17 must wear a bike helmet, even those cuties in the trailer. :o)

It's the law in New York state, too. My husband and I wear helmets when we ride with the kids, too, just to set the example. Even if it isn't the law, it's a good idea to consider having the whole family wear helmets, anyway. A traumatic brain injury can make for a difficult life for the whole family.
I hope I don't come off as judging. Just wanted to offer my perspective. I am a huge fan of your blog, Bethany!
