Tomorrow is Caleb's birthday..he will be 11 years old!

We decided to celebrate his birthday today instead of tomorrow, so we went to Steak and Shake.  We were having a great time, laughing and having fun together....

When we got ready to go, the waitress said, "I wanted to let you know why I haven't given you your tab yet.  There was someone here who has paid for your meal, but they didn't want me to tell you all until they had left.  So I hope you enjoyed your meal!"

Wow.  What an unexpected surprise!  

The kids didn't even hear the waitress, so when we got in the car, we told them what happened, and were able to use it as a teachable moment to explain what real giving is- when someone gives expecting nothing in return.  The kids were amazed that someone would do something like that.  We were too.  It made our day so special!!

Next, we went to Target and let Caleb pick himself out a new bicycle- he's been wanting one for such a long time.  He picked out one just like this one.  You should have seen him beaming all the way home.  Too bad it was so muddy from all of the snow we've been having the last week...he couldn't ride it right away.   He will get to soon though!

Bonnie and Noah made really cute little snowmen today too.
