Electric Co-op Mural Progress #7

Yesterday, I let the kids come with me when I painted some more on the mural- I stayed about one hour and let them stay in the car.    I left the car idling in the shade with the air conditioner on, and let them bring a lot of books, and some snacks.  They were really good and I was able to get a lot done in that small amount of time.  It was about 3:30 PM when I started.

Caleb came out and took some pictures while I was working.  I was working on the area with the garden rows.

The car stayed nice and comfortable even though it was really hot.
Here's Bonnie running back to the car after coming to talk to me for a little bit.   She was asking me if I realized it was 100 degrees outside (the bank right across from this place has a thermometer that lets you know the temperature), and wondered if I needed water.    That was really sweet of her.

And I did need the water. My shirt was covered with sweat.  haha

You can really see how big this mural is in this picture.

In one hour, this is how much I had done.  I colored the boards on the back of the truck, and put some detail on the posts, and filled in some of the dirt in the garden area.

Next time, I plan to finish these rows up and add some crops to it...then I have to work on the logo for the Electric company, on the truck and also a large banner on the top right of the mural. Then I have to add a little house, work on the electric poles, and work on the farmer and plow. Also, there is a lot of work to be done to the grassy field to make it look more realistic.

I hope the kids will take away from these experiences the importance of diligence. I want them to see that even the things you love to do are actually WORK, but that they are worth all of the time and effort you put into them.

I saw a quote the other day that said: "Opportunity is missed by most people because it's dressed in overalls and looks like work".   Very true!
