What I've been up to

I  don't know why, but it really bothers me that I haven't blogged much in the last few months.  I look at the archives and see that I used to make a post or two every day. Now I make 5 posts a month, if that much.  So pitiful!   Maybe I'll be able to pick up the pace again soon.  I have so many things to post about, but rarely have the time anymore to post about them!

I have another mural project that needs to be started soon...it's for our Electric company, and it's going to be another outdoor mural (on brick) which will be 43 feet long and 13 feet high.      I've been taking doing a lot of research and making up sketches so that I'll be ready to start- and hopefully, if everything goes well, I should be starting on this project this week sometime!      Thank goodness for family members who are kind enough to watch the kids for me while I paint.  I really appreciate them.

Here is a rough sketch of what the mural should look like:

I really hope that it will be not too difficult to do, and that I'll be able to complete it in a short enough time but still do a good job. The city is hoping I will complete it by September 27th.  I'll be sure to post pictures of the progress.

Every time I start one of these, it is so intimidating, and this one is the largest so far (I'll be painting the whole side of the building, instead of just part of it!).   It is not just intimidating though, it is very exciting, and I can't wait to see how it will turn out.

One day, this is the kind of mural I would like to try - Something that fools the eye.  This one below was done by an artist named Eric Henn (you can see his other work here.  His artwork is very inspiring!)

What I think is amazing about the above picture is how he somehow coordinated the sky color to match so well with the real sky.   I love how you can look at this mural and feel like you're looking at something that is three dimensional. Maybe one day I can do something like that.    I wish there were more mural artists who did this well, and also had websites, so that I could admire their work too.    The only other person I can find who seems to be as talented is Eric Grohe .  This one is my favorite from his site:

I think this mural is one of the most amazing sights to behold.  Read the story about the process and the background for this mural here .     These guys are much more skilled than I am, but maybe one day with practice, I could do something like theirs.

Murals are just amazing and I love them!
