Flag Mural
I was so excited to get out and start painting again today. Bonnie and Caleb got to come with me half of the time (they were so good!), and half of the time they stayed with their grandma (my mom). Noah also stayed with his grandpa and grandma (James' parents).
Every time I start one of these murals, I just can't tell you how happy it makes me. It is such an incredible feeling to take an empty wall, and transform it into something completely different (and I hope, better!). Sure, it's a lot of work, but it is so worth it!!
I had another project to do for the city- they asked me to add "Founded 1873" to the bottom of the mural, and to add an Alabama flag and an American flag to the wall. So this last week, I spent time designing and planning it, and I got to work at about 10:30 this morning.
Here are progress pictures:

If you're wondering what font that is, it's "Schwabacher".

I had to use a ladder for the flag project, but fortunately only had to go as high as three steps up.

Thank goodness for grids- without them, I could never do something this large scale and keep it in proportion.

Finished!

Here's what it looks like a little further away:

And then, a view from the road:

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, you are an amazingly talented person. I think it's so fantastic that you are putting your talents to use as you are with murals because they're so visible to so many and enjoyed by so many! WOWEEEEE!!!!

I love how the shading on the Alabama state flag makes the white on it stand out from the white brick wall. You did a great job on the whole project!
By the way, your state flag made me flash back to elementary school! I did a report on Alabama in fifth grade and I remember making that flag out of construction paper to go with the report.

Awesome. Is there a special way you protect it from the sun and weather?
