Happy Birthday Bonnie!
Bonnie turns 8 years old today!
I can't believe she is already 8 years old.
I remember being 8.
Bonnie requested months ago that I give her some art supplies- she loves to paint and draw like her mommy.
I went to Hobby Lobby and bought her the following items:
Some watercolor paints, paintbrushes, and watercolor paper.
A book about drawing kittens, a sketch pad, and two packs of two pencils.
A pack of 120 colored pencils, including gold and silver colors.
Some sidewalk chalk for her, Noah, and Caleb to all share.
And yesterday I worked really hard to create a horse cake for Bonnie. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out at ALL like I wanted it to. I was so disappointed... I think I got the fondant too soft and it never would lay flat- and I didn't have any food coloring so I ended up using chocolate (and my finger) to paint color on the horse. Maybe next year I'll be able to do better. Bonnie loves horses, and I know she won't care what it looks like.
Bonnie hasn't seen any of this yet- we'll have a little birthday party for her tonight, just with the family! She's been so excited about it all week.

OH MY GOODNESS, Bethany, that cake is absolutely amazing! I can't believe you don't think it's good. You are much too hard on yourself. That is a beautiful cake. Bonnie surely loved it! You are so incredibly artistic!

Bethany that cake is pretty amazing! I can't imagine what you wanted it to turn out like! I have never even thought of making a cake like that! You are an amazing momma!

Happy birthday to Bonnie! You did an amazing job on that horse cake. It looks GREAT! She'll love it.
FYI, the Wilton icing coloring gels are easier to work with than liquid food coloring. They're inexpensive (I think around 75 cents each?) and last virtually forever. Since they're gel, they won't thin down your icing or fondant the way liquid food coloring does.
They're also difficult to mix colors, just so you know. I initially bought just red, blue, and yellow, thinking, "I can make green, purple, and orange from this..." Wrong. Just buy the basic colors; it's worth the 75 cents each. Purple from red and blue, comes out gray-ish.

My goodness your standards are high. I'd be over the moon if I'd creating a cake as beautiful as that one!

And I have to agree w/EVERYONE else, you are too hard on yourself, the cake looks amazing!
As I scrolled up, (I wanted to see the 9 week pic first lol) I saw the pic (not knowing that it was a cake) I thought it was one of those tapestry throws or something.
