I Got My Ultrasound!

I was waiting until I could post a scan of the ultrasound photo, but do not have my camera (it's being sent in for repairs), and my scanner cord has malfunctioned!   I guess I'll have to post that later.

I'm really happy today-  I got my ultrasound, and it looks like the baby is doing really well right now!

His/her heart is beating at 129 beats a minute, and I finally know how far along I am now.   The baby measured at 6 weeks, so my due date is around April 5, 2010!

I will go back in a couple more weeks to see how things are progressing!

Wow! congratulations! i am so happy to hear that. I was about 6 weeks and 4-5 days and my due date was April 18th. Are you sure your date isnt a little further along, or your possibly not as far along as 6 weeks? So happy to hear the great news. Keeping you in my prayers!

Erika, I don't know for sure- I went online to a due date calculator that counts from the date of conception (the baby is measuring 6 weeks so I just counted back about 6 weeks and got an approximate date).
I might find out later that I'm wrong about the date, but I think I'm pretty close anyway.

I would love to find the gender- with Bonnie and Noah, the doctor wasn't able to tell the gender through the ultrasounds with them, so they were surprises till the very end! It was soooo hard wondering if they were going to be a girl or a boy!

I do hope that this time I'll be able to know, but if not, I guess it'll just be another surprise- which is actually kind of fun, but I hate the waiting part! lol

My daughter really wants it to be a girl but if it's a boy we'll be just as happy!

Of course, a happy, healthy baby is what matters!!
My daughter wanted a girl so bad this last time around...and we did end up with one! We couldn't find out either on my last wee one, and surprises are fun, although I do like to know!

        Blessings!

Hey Bethany. Congratulations! That's wonderful. I think too your due date might be more towards the end of April. I'm 7 weeks today and due April 16. Unless you or your dr isn't counting the two weeks from the beginning of your cycle to the middle? Did your u/s picture have a due date or measurements week on it? Anyways, so happy for you!!!!!!!!!

That's right - the doctor said that was the date from conception- not last monthly period. That means that if the two weeks were added in, I would be considered 8 weeks pregnant. The due date calculator I used counted from the date of conception. I still could be off a bit but I think I've got it close. I'll ask the doctor when I go back.

Yeah that makes sense. Praising the Lord with you too! Hey, my husband was wondering what kind of paint you use for your wall murals.

          Thanks Melissa!

For the murals, I use acrylic paint. I actually use the Apple Barrel brand that you can get at Walmart for about 1.50 a container.

But for the city mural, I'm going with Keim Mineral Paints which is way more expensive and should last for centuries without fading or weathering. It's about 80 dollars for the equivalent of a gallon!

if you are going to paint while you are pregnant, you should get baby-safe paint. You don't want to be inhaling those harmful chemicals into your body.

Thanks Tia. I think that the mineral paints should be safer than most paints, as they are natural. Plus, since I'll be outside, it will be well ventilated.

I painted my old church's baptistery when I was 4 months pregnant with Noah, using latex paints and acrylic. Latex paint doesn't contain solvents or anything that is considered dangerous while pregnant.

I think you're due later in April. I am 6w5d today and my due date is April 18th.

It was the day of conception (aka ovulation) plus 2 weeks. For instance, usually you get a positive pregnancy test 14 days after you ovulation, which makes you 4 weeks. (That's why doctor's base gestation off of you last menstrual cycle because most [but not all] women have 28 day cycle. 14 days from first day of period to day of ovulation, then 14 more days from ovulation to the average day of getting a positive home pregnant test.) According to my LMP I am 8w?d but because I know I ovulated later, we adjusted [subtracted] the extra time between my 1st day of my last period and when I actually ovulated from the due date... based on my LMP due date.)

I just used a calculator thingy based on you being 6 weeks gestation yesterday and it gave you a due date of April 22nd. That would be 4 days after me, which sounds right because today you would be 6w1d and I'm 6w5d.
