Hot and Spicy Blueberry Basted Chicken Wings
On Tammy's Recipes, I saw a link for a Blueberry Recipe Contest that I just had to enter- after all, I have plenty of blueberries to experiment with.
The recipe you post for the recipe contest must be original and unique. After trying and failing with my own version of a blueberry cake, I decided to go with a savory dish instead.
Here is what I came up with- Hot and Spicy Blueberry Basted Chicken Wings.

Here is my recipe:
1 cup blueberry preserves
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup ketchup
2-3 tbsp sriracha sauce (more or less to taste)
2 Tbsp Dales Seasoning Sauce
1 onion, chopped
1 large clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp butter
3 tbsp brown sugar (more or less to taste)
1 tsp (or more) crushed red pepper
2 packages of chicken wings
Directions: Saute onions and garlic in butter until soft and translucent. In separate pan, mix together blueberry preserves, ketchup, fresh blueberries, Dales Seasoning, brown sugar, sriracha sauce, and crushed red pepper and cook at medium heat. Add onions and garlic. Cook until mixture is thoroughly heated.
In a 9 x 12 glass pan, lay out chicken wings. Baste with sauce. Cook at 365 degrees for an hour (or until chicken is thoroughly heated through and juices come out clear).

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that these were DIVINE.... Don't skimp on that hot sauce.

That does look scrumptious! I hope you win! I bet that would be good on shrimp too. Blessings!

Hi Bethany,
I saw a show on channel 43 last night and this company makes mini chicken blueberry and maple syrup sausages. They looked so good. I would have never thought to put blueberries with chicken but it really does sound good.
