The Baby Shower
I was so thrilled yesterday at how the shower turned out. It was wonderful.
Many more people showed up than I thought would be there, and it was a lot of fun.
One visitor in particular I was very happy about meeting- her name is Kelli and she's been a commenter here for a while! She met me through my artwork website and has been emailing me for a while..she does some really nice drawings! Please be sure to visit her blog! Kelli drove almost 2 hours to come to the shower, so it really meant a lot to me that she came. She was even kind enough to take pictures for me while I was doing other things during the shower.
Isn't she pretty?

Here are Kelli and I together:

When everyone walked in, I asked them to sign a baby card for Jennifer, so she would remember who all came to her shower. I also asked them to record their address in an address book so we can send thank you cards, and gave them their diaper pin and a quiz.
Here is one side of the livingroom when we had all of the guests there. I was fortunate enough to have enough chairs for everyone to sit on! lol Everyone who got here early took the baby quiz and the one who scored with the highest number of points won a prize.

Here is the other side of the livingroom, but not everyone was seated at this time- they were up getting appetizers.

Here is one of the tables with appetizers. My mother in law was kind enough to make some little taco tasting snacks (I can't remember what they were called), and "veggie pizzas". They were delicious. A friend also made the punch. I made 7 layer nacho dip, and tortilla rollups.

And the dessert table... my mom made strawberry pretzel salad, and baklava. I made oatmeal cookies.
My friend Allison brought this beautiful little cake, which was made from lots of little cupcakes:
More shots of the livingroom, everyone mingling and having fun:

My cousin's daughter was the life of the party. She made everyone smile:

(Would you believe this baby is the same one that I posted about here?)
Now, this was the best part of the shower, in my opinion. I loved this game.
Take some diapers, and fill them with mashed up candy bars, different types...then stick them in the microwave until they're nice and gooey and look like...well, you know! Then the visitors have to try to guess "What did the baby eat?"

I want to see how well you people can decipher candy bars through the internet. Let me know your guesses in the comments as to which diaper contains which candy bar.

Ewwww.. right?
The funniest part of this game was watching different people sticking their faces in the diapers and smelling them. It was really comical.
Here is my mother in law who was about to have to smell one. She looks slightly terrified. lol

Is it a whatchamacallit bar? I can't tell.

Maybe if I get a little closer...

I know it's a Snicker bar! It has to be!

More sniffing...

My sister finally got to open her presents...she got a bunch!
(Sorry I don't have more pictures of her...she wasn't feeling well and didn't want many taken).

She is only about 9 weeks from her due date! Still so small.

Anyway, the shower turned out to be a success, and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. I can't wait to see Jennifer's baby.

Hi there - I just wanted to let you know of the alternative to tradition baby shower that is God-centered and spiritually nourishes the mother-to-be called a Celebration of Pregnancy gathering. I created it, with the intention of giving Christian women a new way of celebrating, and to replace the tradition Blessingways with a Christian one. Please check out my website for more information and put my link on your page if you feel led by the LORD. I have many more products that are God-centered and teach women that we can celebrate God's design for us as women through all our cycles of maidenhood, maternity and menopause.
May God bless the fruit of your labors in helping women - with loss and grief of babies. I will keep your resource in mind when I teach and talk with ladies.
In Him, Doran Richards
