I hate cleaning poop out of the litter box. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I have many times entertained the idea of toilet training my cat (and the cats I've previously owned over the years), but wasn't sure if it was really possible. I used to just scoff and think "that can't really work".    I have been reading over time now though, and actually saw many videos of cats going to the bathroom in the toilet,  that I finally thought, you know...it can't really hurt to at least TRY.    lol   I decided to go for it!


So, I bought a toilet training system for kitties last week off of Ebay, and cleaned out the bathroom that we have been using for a storage room ...that will be where our cat uses the bathroom. The toilet in there still works fine and once she is trained, the most cleaning I'd have to do is flush the toilet- that is, if I am successful at training her!

According to the training kit I bought (I bought the cheapo one), it should only take a few days to completely train any cat to use the toilet... don't know how accurate that is, but it didn't take her long to use the regular litter box (less than an hour), so maybe it's possible!

I have already gotten the cat acquainted with the toilet seat cover, which is filled with litter....I poured the "enticing herbs" (which I'm pretty sure is just catnip) over the top of the litter, and she definitely seemed interested. She even dug a little hole in the middle of it while she was up there.   Tonight, the first step is to close her into the bathroom overnight with the littler filled toilet cover and see if she'll go in it. If she does, the next step will be to cut a small hole in the center of the cover.  Then the next step would be to make the hole larger...and so on till it is just like a regular toilet seat.  Then you can just take the cover off and let her have at it!
