Hormonix
Thank you so much for all your comments. I have been encouraged by listening to all of your stories. I'm amazed at how many of you have been helped by using natural progesterone!
I was talking to a woman from the CPC where I work yesterday, brought up this topic...and she referred me to a local Herbalist/Homeopath (who is also a homeschooling mother of 10 children). She has known my husband's family for years.
I was told that this woman would know a lot about the progesterone cream, so I called her right away. We talked for about 1 or 2 hours, and I asked her every question I could think of. She knew a lot...in fact, she said she had had several miscarriages, and finally started taking progesterone, and she had 5 babies of her own because of using the progesterone cream!
I became convinced that there was no need to get a blood test first, but just to start using the progesterone cream on the 14th day of my cycle this month, and see if it helps. Apparently there is no reason not to as there are no side effects (as long as you're not taking too much anyway) and it is perfectly natural. I wasn't sure before, but after asking all the questions I asked, I think it'll be fine.
I bought some progesterone from this woman yesterday. It's called "Hormonix", and only contains these ingredients:
Progesterone USP,
Aloe Vera,
Vitamins A and E,
Primrose Oil,
Ginseng,
Red Clover,
Isoflavones.
I'll be using 2 20 mg doses of the cream per day for 2 weeks every month.
Thanks again for all the helpful advice!

Bethany, I can't believe I found your site just googling homemade wikki stix. Your site was a huge blessing this summer when I lost baby #5. Like one of the commenters in the last post I started having heavy periods, painful breasts, back pain and moodiness in the following months. I used natural progesterone before my first pregnancy nine years ago and got pregnant right away, but had sort of forgotten. Your post was so timely and I was thinking of asking my dr. to do a blood test, but after my reading yesterday I decided to go to Whole Foods and get some natural stuff. Headed there this afternoon. Thank you so much for posting on this issue. It really got me thinking and researching. Hugs.

Megan, I remember you posting before about your miscarriage. I am so thankful that you have been able to find some encouragement here. I hope that your whole foods and natural things you buy will help you! I think I'm going to need to start eating a lot healthier too.

Hi Bethany,
I don't have any experience with the progesterone cream but I had to take progesterone shots to continue my last pregnancy as my doctor discovered that my levels had fallen too low. (IF progesterone falls to low in your pregnancy you miscarry the baby.) My doctor is a NaproTechnology Natural Family Planning physician. This is a WONDERFUl program that sort of charts your hormones to tell if you are able to get pregnant. It also indicates if you are predisposed to having progesterone problems. I am completely amazed at how many women I know (all of us now go to the same doc.)who have had low progesterone levels. In my bible study there are six ladies and five of us have had this problem with at least one of our pregnancies. Almost all of us had one or more miscarriage before finding out about this. My sister, for example, lost her second baby when she was about 12 weeks along with her preg. The next pregnancy, using the napro method, the doc checked her hormone levels very shortly after conceiving and found that her progesterone was dangerously low and would not support the preg. for long. She started taking progesterone shots twice a week. (They retest your levels every three weeks to see if you still need it) She continued the shots into her third trimester at which time her body once again started producing this progesterone. My little niece Rose Katherine was born, totally healthy, completely due to those wonderful shots. All of her later pregnancies have needed the shots as well but not for that long, only about a trimester. I only needed mine for three weeks. Anyway, sorry to go on so long but it is something that I whole hartily recommend checking out. Your own physician can do the blood tests. If they tell you that progesterone hurts babies in utero go to someone who will listen because the research shows otherwise - that is when the women's levels are to low. The Napro Technology is also a GREAT way to help get pregnant. It is cheap, involving just a few apt. to learn the method and to learn how to read your chart. I have a link to more info on that, if you don't mind,
http://www.fertilitycare.org/. My sister actually now teaches these courses and if anyone has questions I know that she wouldn't mind. Take care.
Blessings,
Betsy

Bethany, I've been considering doing a post on progesterone. Imagine my surprise to read about it here! I began taking natural progesterone cream upon the recommendation of a friend just recently. After the birth of baby #11, I was more emotionally vulnerable and unstable than I've ever been. I noticed a remarkable change in just a couple of days of using the cream. Now that I look back and have studied it further, I think I could have avoided many pregnancy and post-partum related discomforts over the years.
I started with Homefirst, which I love because it pumps out and absorbs quickly. Now I am using Beeyoutiful Balance which must be measured, has a slight odor and is greasier, but it's CHEAPER!
