Bonnie's Room Organization

As promised, I'm going to share Bonnie's room pictures today.

As soon as the kids and I were finishing cleaning Caleb's room, I told them all to go into Bonnie's room and pull EVERYTHING from underneath her bed, and underneath her dresser, and anything that might be left in the closet, to the middle of the floor, so that we could sort through it all.  They didn't have as much fun with this one, as it seemed too much like work by then! lol   But they got it all out, and after finishing Caleb's room, we went through and sorted through Bonnie's things.   I threw away any clothing that was stained, even a little, and had many boxes for sorting the clothes that we were keeping out.     We put away more toys and got rid of 3/4 of the books on her bookshelf.

Here are pictures of the finished room-

My sister painted the hearts and butterflies on the purple dresser!

And here is another angle of the room...if you look in the closet, you can see the painting that Bonnie made in there. One day, she had asked me if she could paint something on her wall...While I didn't want her painting on her regular wall, I didn't mind her painting in the closet. I gave her some paints and let her go at it!   She has always been proud of her closet artwork!
She also has two of her favorite drawings on the wall to the left of the closet.

The closet artwork:

Here is a view inside her closet- all of her dresses are hung up, nicely and neatly. There are boxes lined on all of the shelves.

Inside Bonnie's top drawer:

Inside her bottom drawer:

And here is a view inside the drawers in Caleb's room...

Caleb's pants:

Shirts-
Just a note: as I was doing more laundry yesterday, I found many more of his and the other children's shirts that are still nice, that I would like them to be able to wear.  However,  I have decided to stick to my 8 shirt rule so I don't go back to my old habits. I have put all the good clothes that they can still wear in boxes, and when the time comes, if they stain one of their 8 shirts, or tear it, lose it, etc... they can replace it with one from the box.

Here is the pajama drawer for all three children:

Here is Noah's drawer with his shirts and pants:

And the undewear/sock drawer for all three- not nearly so nice and organized, but I'm okay with it as long as it's all in one place. I don't have the time or the patience to match them all up right now...maybe as I get further along I can get to that.  I sometimes mark each person's socks with a colored acrylic paint dot, so that they know which one belongs to who.  It really helps!

And Bonnie's tights and pantyhose...my aunt gave me all of these in a large bag when winter came along.

Well, that's it.  Now, I want to go through my walk-in closet and see if I can't get it more organized in there.
I will actually be able to get before/after pictures of that.

      Thanks, Warren!

Yes, I enjoy the murals much more when the rooms are clutter free(and hopefully will be staying that way now)!

Maybe once I have everything done that I want to do, I can try starting a new mural somewhere in this house.

Speaking of your murals, this might be an avenue of advertisement. I'm not sure, but I thought of you when I saw this:

Just curious, why don't you have Bonnie's socks, underwear, tights and stuff in her own drawers??

      Simplicity.

It makes it so much easier when they all know where to go for their underwear and socks, and it's all in one place. I have many times had her underwear in her own drawers, but it ends up being like this anyway, and I find it much easier so I just kept it that way. If Bonnie ever wants to keep them in her own drawers, I always let her.

Hello. GREAT JOB!! I love to organize...now if I would just clean more.LOL. Anyway I had a coupe suggestions for you...
I save all our old clothes now that are stained for two things-rags and I am making a quilt for each child from their old clothes(I am also saving buttons for the girls for in between the squares). My only rule is that the clothes have to be worn at least once and I dont cut up good clothes. I will give those away or sell at my next garage sale. The other suggestion was the mattress under your sons bed. I have the same thing and I put a fitted sheet on it so you dont really notice the mattress. Someone actually gave me that idea and I loved it so I thought I would pass it along.
Your blog and Tammies recipes are the only blogs I read (for over a year now) and am so inspired by you both.
You are a great women of God, wife and mom! Trish

Tricia, I really appreciate your kind words!

Thanks for the tip about the fitted sheet. I actually have a bed skirt that was in the washer at the time, and now it's on the bed and it looks much better. But I think that is a terrific idea and i'll definitely use it.

I like your idea of making a quilt out of your children's clothes. I saw a quilt like that one time and I was so jealous! If I ever find the time, I might do that same thing one day!
