Two Very Inspiring People

I have been wanting to share these videos for a very long time. These are two people who I find extremely inspiring.

Nick Vukicic
is a man who was born without arms or legs.  When I first watched this video about his life, I cried and just was in awe...it's amazing to see this person who despite having no limbs,  has such an impressive outlook on life, and who has allowed God use his life to be an inspiration to millions and to bring people to Christ.    This man's struggles make mine look so small, and puts into perspective how much we can overcome by God's grace.

I hope that you will enjoy this video as much as I did..just be sure to have a Kleenex handy.

The next videos are of an Autistic woman, Amanda Baggs (you can read her blog here), who actually has been able to find a way to communicate with others using a talking keyboard.

I knew virtually nothing about Autism before finding this video several months ago, and I have watched every single one of her videos- amazed at what I was able to learn.    And saddened by how this woman (who I know represents many) has been treated her entire life.

I am impressed with her openness and willingness to educate the world about Autism.

Here is her video, "Being an Unperson":

Here is another video she made, "If you can do x, why can't you do y?" Very eye opening!

I know all to well what it's like living with autism. I'm a mother of 4, 2 adults, 1 teen, and my youngest with autism. When I watched that video, it touched me in many ways. My son, Damon, is a very intelligent child, he's none verbal, and we communicate by PECS or simple signing. God gave me a gift that I can handle. My son has taught me patience, and more knowledge that I can ever imagine.
I wanted to say, Bethany, your an awesome person. I look forward, every morning, to see whether or not you posted a blog. And by the way, that was an awesome apron. i have also tried just about every recipe you have posted.

Bethany, Thanks for posting this! I have an aunt who has low functioning autism but is also an Idiot Sevant - could play piano wonderfully when younger although deaf. We have always known that she could understand what we were saying and grew up around her knowing that God made her perfect and that we were to treat her as we would want to be treated. How difficult it was to get others to understand that though! This lady is a WONDERFUL as she can now speak for millions like Nancy (my aunt). I just e-mailed that u-tube link to all my relatives. Thank so much for making me aware of this vidio!
I hope you and your family has a blessed Christmas.

Your aunt sounds lovely. That is amazing that she was able to play the piano while deaf. Wow!

Thank you for passing the video along...I hope more and more people will be able to see the videos and learn from them. Amanda's blog is also full of wonderful resources.

I was totally amazed at Nick's life. Despite the fact of what happened to him. He was still living in a cheerful and contented life. He will always be an inspiration for each of us.
