Fishtank Progress #3

The epoxy finally came in and James has been working on coating the inside of the fish tank with it.  He'll be doing several layers of this, to waterproof the inside.

This is what it looked like before painting....

And here he is painting it...

By evening, this is what it looked like.  He'll coat it a few more times over the week.

We'll be painting over the black once it's finished....most likely with a light shade of blue.

Crazy! I can't wait to see how it will turn out. Why is he making one out of wood as opposed to an all glass one? I can imagine cost, durability, something wild to try, etc. What's the scoop?

I think it's a mixture of all three! He said that cost is one, durability is definitely a second. Plywood is more durable than glass when coated with the epoxy (he used 3 quarter inch). And most of the huge aquariums that you see built into people's walls- the back sides are made of wood (And the front is glass).
      I think it's really cool!
