Hand Painted Jars
Thanks to the advice of many moms out there in the blogosphere, I have decided to start my own Etsy shop, hopefully to sell some things I make. I really appreciate all of the great ideas you ladies have.
The first thing I'm planning to try selling through Etsy are hand painted jars.
\

Here is one of them closeup, with the candle inside...

I used to sell these handpainted jars a lot...usually oil/vinegar jars. The paint that I use is enamel paint...I bake these jars in the oven after painting, and it seals the paint onto them. You can wash them over and over again and the paint will never come off.
Here are some of the jars I painted in 2005 and sold for $10.00 each. I went by request- anything that someone suggested I would paint.
One woman asked me to do grapes...

Another woman specifically requested "Lilies of the valley:

Daisies...

chickens....

A rose was another request...

And even a dolphin!

If you'd be interested in having a jar painted for 10.00 plus shipping and handling, let me know. Right now, I'm just doing the candle jars that you can see in the top two images. As I find more jars, I will use them as well.
I'll be listing many of my jars on Etsy soon and will post the link on the blog.
Thanks so much for your support!

Those are beautiful!
I've been thinking about starting an etsy store for my purses that I make, but haven't decided how to do it since I mostly do custom work.

Congrats on this next step, Bethany! You are so talented & have enough readers who will help you spread the word.
You could also sell anything you've made in the past, in your etsy shop. It doesn't have to be newly made. Aprons, bonnets, painted gourds, you name it.
May I suggest a memorial line? It's a good fit for your readership & causes. I bet there are families who would like to have a candle holder with a flower or heart on it, and the name and perhaps significant dates for a lost child or other loved one.
