Added the Lattice
Well, remember how I said I was going to be able to build a playhouse for 25 dollars or so? I COULD have, but I got so excited about building it, I decided to double it in size, then I decided to use the plywood my mom is giving me for the floor instead of the walls, and then I decided to use lattice for the walls.... so now, it's totaling more like 100 to 120 dollars in all.
Whatever the case, my husband is actually commenting on how proud he is to see me building the playhouse...he said it's coming along great...and that made me feel good! I'm just learning as I go. I have made more mistakes than I can count...not a single one of those boards is aligned completely right. lol But that's just part of learning, right? Trial and error.
Luckily, James was able to help me last night, as I was putting the lattice on the walls. He came up just as it was beginning to get difficult and started helping me. The lattice is a lot heavier than it seems.

We're going to be making a tarp roof instead of the other kind, since my mom has a tarp she'll be giving me for free. I'm planning to paint the lattice blue and the trim white. The kids are really excited about how the playhouse is coming along!

It's looking SO cute. You're tempting me to want to try. I always think how nice a playhouse would be for my kids, but have just assumed we could never build one ourselves.
Maybe you should post a detailed materials list when you're all finished.
Really enjoying your site, btw.

Hi there, Bethany! My kiddos and I eagerly await each new thing you do. We love opening our inbox to find you so very energetic and busy keeping your home and loving those kiddos.
I specifically have 2 questions:
1. Can you please send detailed instructions/material list for the playhouse. I'm thinking about having the 14 year-old son and myself build a bicycle shed using your design.
2. How do you do your blog to where the messages automatically go to people's email addys. I have several folks locally who e-mail me the same ? over and over regarding my expertise (homeschooling in CA & medical transcription from home). I'd love to be able to blog and have my musings show up in subscriber's inboxes. Will you point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much!!!
May God richly bless you.
In Christ,

This looks like a of fun for your little ones. I'll bet that they really remember it when they grow up.
Have you considered planting somthing next to it next year? Maybe sunflowers.
You are so talented!

I think the lattice is a good idea. It will be much cooler inside than it would with plywood walls. They'll be able to feel any breeze that comes through and I would think it would get pretty hot in there with the plywood for walls. It's really coming along and I know they must be getting excited about playing in it. Even at $120 it's still a lot cheaper than buying one and this one will be really special to them because Mom built it!
