Unusual Way to Catch A Wren
Well, yesterday I was definitely in for a surprise!
The last few weeks, it's been really warm, and we've started having lots of flies come in the house (the kids coming in and out of the door constantly doesn't help matters!).
We bought some fly traps and they've been helping. We put one of those fly traps in our bedroom last week. There is a window in our bedroom that our kids love to open every time they get a chance, and it was open yesterday (I didn't know it). Apparently, a bird flew in through that window again (this is NOT the first time we've had a bird in our house lol- birds love to come in through that window for some reason!).
I was in the livingroom, with the kids, when I heard, "CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP!!!!"
It just kept going on and on. I followed the sound and rushed back to the bedroom where I saw a little tiny bird, caught in the flytrap by it's wings!
I was like oh no what am I going to do? How will I get the bird off the flytrap? Will it ever be able to fly again???
I got my brother in law to come help. He was able to use a cloth to hold onto the fly trap and then hold the bird and carefully work it's wing off of the fly trap.
Once the bird (a Wren) was off of it, I took these pictures:

Bonnie got to hold it for a moment, and then we let it go to see if it would fly away. It hopped into the woods, so I do not know if it was able to fly or not. I truly hope so!

I must be really sleepy today. When I first read the title of your entry, I thought it said "Unusual Way to Catch MEN"
I had to do a double take
At our old house, we had birds making nests on the porch light, right next to the door. I can't even count how many birds came into the house. It was sure exciting to say the least.
Hopefully the bird will be ok.

LOL @ seeing "Men" instead of "wren"! That's too funny!

I'm going to the post office this morning!
That little birdie was so lucky that you were able to get him/her lose. So cute. Glad that it wasn't a little bat! (we had one of those fly in our house a few years ago.)
My mom used to tell my brother that he could catch a bird if he could sprinkle pepper on his tail.

We had a similar happening last spring. I was laying vinyl in our downstairs rooms and using adhesive.
I had an 'empty' container sitting out on our deck as I went to put it in the trash I noticed there was a small bird in it, stuck!
I felt awful and racked my brain and prayed as to what I could do. We ended up putting water and dish soap in the bucket and swished it around until the bird was free than we let him go but he just hopped around. So we recaptured him and used a tooth brush to get the residue off his wings and beak.
I tried to dry him as it was later afternoon and cooling. He stayed in one spot for sometime but eventually had the strength and ability to fly off.
'Your' bird more than likely did the same. A bit stunned from the experience but recovered and flew away.
It was a neat experience for the children.
You surely got some great pictures!

Bethany,
I have to agree with Angie....I had to take a 'triple' take, because I kept seeing the word 'men'. LOL
I'm sure glad that the bird was okay! I have never seen that happen, and thankfully have never had a wild bird in my house, but I'm sure it was definitely an experience for the kiddos!!!
Have a great night!
In Christ,
Autumn
