Christmas Spirit

We're getting in the Christmas spirit this year...

I made some sugar cookies this week...they are really delicious...just made with a basic rolled sugar cookie recipe.

Then, my husband, who is always so great about "thinking outside the box", came up with a very creative idea for our Christmas tree this year.   It reminds me of Charlie Browns' Christmas tree. So sweet, special, and unique.

James cut this tree from our yard, and sprayed it with fake snow:

Then, brought it in, and we decorated it with bulbs and blue lights. It looks awesome in the dark- wish I had a picture of that.

I made some gingerbread cookies out of felt (painted their faces and trim with acrylic paint) and added them to the tree:

I felt like it needed a star, so I built one out of fabric....it has ribbons hanging from it:

I think it looks great!     We have also strung lights outside, which we never usually do!  The kids have been begging us to, so we finally went ahead and did it. I'm so glad we did.

Have any of you gotten your trees up yet?

I just LOVE that tree!!!! James had a wonderful idea with that.....and the decorations are too adorable!!! Our tree is up and decorated, but we still need to put up our outdoor decorations....I have pics of our tree on my blog, and will hopefully post pics of the outdoor decorations when we get them up!

Cute tree!! What a great idea - now, is this one you can do without in your yard? I am working on our tree right now - I started last night, but found out that 2 strands of lights aren't working (even after I tried them and they WERE working!). So once the little girl goes to bed tonight I'll be at it again. Our tree is just a 6' fake tree that I bought for DH for our first Christmas together and we laugh about it every year, but we still keep it! Maybe it's sentimental.

We have our trees up. I finally got a white Christmas tree for upstairs that I'd been wanting forever - it was on clearance last year. We have a regular green tree downstairs.

I love your Christmas tree! I also love the ornaments and star you made for it - just adorable.

Yup, all our trees are up! We have one in the foyer, living room and family room lol. Foyer is fake...pre-lit! Loves those trees! I did a purple theme w/all of them. The living and family room trees are real. While getting all the purple theme items, I bought new lights.

I also have a small tree in our bedroom, and my step daughter's room. I'm letting the step daughter decorate her tree anyway she wants.

    Those cookies look soooooo good!

I'm doing to make some cookies this weekend and then some closer to Christmas. We aren't big sweet eaters, so we keep them around when his daughter comes for visitation.
