Really Busy!
I haven't been able to post much this weekend...... we have been so busy!
Within the last few days, my husband and I completely removed all of the stuff out of our bedroom (which was quite a feat, let me tell you), and we put down new linoleum in there, and put the stuff all back in. I made curtains for the room, painted the dresser and bookshelf, cleaned out our walk in closet, pulled everything down from the shelves and completely cleaned it out, saving some stuff for the Salvation Army, and some stuff to throw away.
We ended up with bags and bags full of stuff. Then, we moved on to the kitchen, took out our refrigerator, completely cleaned it out, and put in a new one that our in-law's gave to us. (It's so much nicer than our old refrigerator!)
We have been pulling stuff out of our cabinets, getting rid of pots and pans that we'll probably never use, cleaning out all the "junk drawers", etc. Oh it is looking so much better in here, let me tell you.
We have listed tons of stuff on Freecycle this week...within 1 hour, we had people ready to pick everything up! This is what I love about Freecycle!
Our deep cleaning is almost done....I can feel it. The house is feeling better, looking better, and soon, I don't think we'll have any more need for the deep cleaning!
I just have been having to "let go" of stuff I have been holding onto all these years. It's the "stuff" that causes all of my stress when I'm trying to clean the house...I had to sit there and think, and make a choice...Which is worse: letting go of something I "kind of like" or "might use", and then feeling freer, or keeping it and letting it cause me grief by the mess it makes by being here and taking up space?
I choose to let go! Such a burden is lifted!!

Don't feel bad, Sara! Believe me, we are SO happy to have been getting rid of all of this stuff. We needed to! This was probably the ONLY way I would have motivated James to help me with all of that stuff. Otherwise, I would have been trying to do it all alone, and it never works well enough that way! haha
We are thrilled with the way the house is changing. So don't feel bad one bit...this was something we needed to do anyway! It's been a long time coming!

To those of you who might read my comment and be confused, Sara is a friend of mine who is coming to visit me in 4 days... a lot of my inspiration to get the house done is because of that...and I'm so thankful!

I bet it feels nice to get all this stuff done!! I bet your house looks great! I am not sure if you have heard of Craighlist? http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html
Its a site you can sell stuff on.

I say Amen to that!!! I am in the process of doing that also. It is such a big job but I think in the end getting rid of the burden of "stuff and memories" is worth it. shelly

I wish I had the guts to do something like this. I wish, I wish! Maybe someday. Stuff does weigh you down and every now and then, usually when I have the house to myself and no kids to lay claim to things, I go through their rooms with a trash bag. Always feels great! I need to do it in our room. Maybe over Christmas break, dh will be home then. maybe we can really clean out then. thanks for the motivation!

I found this blog lately & love it:
"I'm an organizing junkie"
http://orgjunkie.com/
She gave away something in the Fall Ya'll Bloggy Giveaway. Then I found the link off her page for this one:
http://lazyorganizer.com/bags/organizingjunkie/index.html
and her blog at
http://laragallagher.com/
I'm hooked! I really want those organizing bags for everything in my life.
Reading the Organizing Junkie blog helps me have more courage to purge stuff.
