Been Busy - Still Deep Cleaning
Today I have been really busy.... I took everything out of Caleb's closet, out of under his bed, out of behind and under his dresser, etc, and swept it all to the middle of the floor, and pulled everything out of the drawers in the dresser and cleaned it all out.
Then, I did the same thing in Bonnie's room. Everything out of behind the bed, under it, under the dresser, between the dresser and the wall, and in the closet. (they are the best hiders of stuff!) So it's been a busy day, but their rooms look sooooo much better!!! And there is LESS STUFF, because I got rid of a lot that they didn't need anymore.

After doing this, I really don't have that much more to deep clean before I'm finished with the whole house. I'm really excited about the changes that have been made lately. Ever since we cleaned out the living room and the sewing room, and put down the new linoleum, it is so easy to clean. Takes less than 5 minutes when it's at it's messiest. It gives me so much more time to do other things that I want to do. If the whole house could be that easy, it would really help..that's why I am trying to get every room de-cluttered like this. It is hard to get rid of some things, but I love a clean house and an "easy to clean" house better than I do all of the clutter!
Has anyone else been cleaning up for the holidays?

Yes I have been cleaning but my problem is we have way too much stuff and I have a hard time letting it go thinking someday we might need it.

I haven't really been cleaning here. My sister, her boyfriend, and their son were supposed to come over here with some friend of theirs -- but that got canceled. So it's gonna be just my dad, my husband, our daughter, and me -- we're not making a 'traditional' holiday meal cuz we don't want all the leftovers ... since we're moving again soon. 10 days -- woo hoo!!
So I'm saving all the cleaning for while I'm packing stuff up (so when I unpack everything, I know it's already been cleaned).

Brandy,
When i was getting our turkey yesterday, I noticed they have cut up turkey pieces. Breasts, drumsticks, thighs etc. You can always get what you think you'll need. It'll be more expensive, but worth it if you LOVE turkey like my family.

Yeah, I've been cleaning too. Altho I'm pretty much a clean freak lol. But I like to go thru closets and such and give stuff away this time of year. it's amazing what you find!

I start my deep kid cleaning in Dec. I get all the girls closets cleaned out, go through books, shelves, etc. I like to do it before Christmas and get rid of 1/2 the stuff they have. My family just goes overboard with gifts.
But I must add....
I HATE TO CLEAN!!
Rather do loads and loads of laundry!

Yes! I have been cleaning and cleaning! I've enlisted the help of my girls and we're really getting stuff done that should have been done long ago. After Thanksgiving, we'll begin the serious cleaning out and getting rid of stuff. I love it.

I have the motivation to clean after seeing the hoarding show on Oprah the other day. I don't have a hoarding issue but I do have way too many memory boxes that need a serious going through. I want to be able to put up a shelf for each child and just save a few things. I have all of their drawings and school papers. I think it is time to clean this up. I also tend to save junk (like broken pot and pans) in the case that I won't be able to afford to get new ones. Time to make some changes.

Not only have we been cleaning for the holidays, but we are hoping to start having foster care kids! We have a 4 bedroom home and we never used the upstairs. Well, we used it as storage and never heated it. Now we are deep cleaning so the rooms will be functional and full of love =)

sigh.
I should be cleaning. But after the furniture moving and organizing, my motivation is *gone*. Sometimes it just seems like a waste of time--with 4 boys and a husband, why sweep when the floor will be covered in grit 5 minutes later? :p
