Great Yard Sale!!!
I went to an awesome yard sale today!!!
An orphanage in our area was hosting a yard sale to benefit children.
Last week, I had heard about it, and I was delighted to hear that it was getting put together, because I happened to need a place to take our two truck loads of stuff to (from my deep cleaning spree a couple of weeks ago). I REALLY needed to get rid of it all...no where to put it!
The orphanage seemed so thankful to get the stuff for their sale, and I was so thankful to get rid of it! I guess it worked out great for all of us!
When I went to the sale today, I was surprised at how much stuff was there! I couldn't believe how much there was. The kids went with me, and we looked around for about 2 hours. (This was an indoor sale, so I guess technically, it wasn't a "yard" sale, I guess
.)
The thing that I first noticed was an enormous pile of fabrics and laces! I was like a kid in the candy store. Just kept digging through it, and putting stuff in a large tub that was there.
Look at it...it's huge. I need to spread it all out so I can show you just how much there really is! This picture really doesn't show the large variety of different fabric colors and textures. I was so thrilled with this find!!! I got the entire tub for $6.00!!

The kids walked around while I was looking there, and they found a couple of bags full of things they wanted.
Speaking of which, I have a sweet story...
Caleb looked and he found this HUGE dinosaur, the same dinosaur I had given the yard sale people just a few days before. Apparently, he wasn't ready to let go of this dinosaur (and I guess he didn't know I had gotten rid of it), and he asked me if we could take it back.
I told him that the dinosaur was too big, just taking up too much space, and we needed to just let it go. Well, he carried that thing around and kept asking me... he kept saying, "Please...I will put away all the other things I wanted, if you'll just let me keep that dino. Please....I love it so much." I kept thinking about it, but I really just didn't want the thing in the house. He already has about 5 million dinosaurs in there anyway. lol Really!
Finally, I caved, when I heard him say this,
"Mommy, that dino isn't just stuffed with beans or stuffing. My dino is stuffed full of memories. I don't want to let it go. I love it so much." His little eyes welled up with tears. I was impressed with what he said.....He really said that!!
"Wow, you really love it that much, sweetie?" I couldn't believe how emotional he was over this dinosaur. Of course, I shouldn't be surprised...he's always been a sentimental child, a child after my own heart. He said yes, and I sighed and finally said, "Allright, we'll take the dinosaur back."

Next, we kept looking around at more stuff, and I saw a table full of dishtowels and things like that. I started looking through them, and then I saw ... a vintage apron! I snatched it up immediately, and started digging around for more! I found about 6 in all.... don't know if I have all of them in the pictures yet or not, but here are some of the ones I found... WHAT A GREAT FIND!!!!! I got them for only 50 cents apiece!! (can you tell I am excited???)

I did get one apron that I don't need, but I think someone else here might be able to use. If this apron applies to you, send me an email, and if you're the first to ask, I will send it to you. You would only need to pay for the shipping.

Here's what it says:

Since we're on the subject of aprons, I have to show you one that my mother in law gave me last week...isn't it pretty? I've been using it a lot, so it's a little wrinkly right now, but you get the idea!

So our day has been terrific!!!
Hope you've all had a great day too!

I actually like the "For this I spent 4 years in college??" apron, but I don't need it. It did give me a chuckle, though. That's the story of my life. For this I spent FIVE years and 180 undergrad hours in college???
Cute new aprons, too. Do you display yours in your kitchen? Speaking of aprons, did you enter the Apronista giveaway? I LOVE ADORE DROOL OVER those feminine, fashionable aprons.

Cute story about the dinosaur. I'm glad you let him keep it.

I wish I could win one of those giveaways...they have the most beautiful aprons! (I wish I had a few dresses that looked like those aprons!)
I thought that apron about college was pretty funny too. Hope someone can use it!
Yeah, I'm glad I let him keep it too...I couldn't believe he loved it so much. I thought I had kept all the dinos here that he was attached to...guess I was wrong!
