Superman Cape and Playdoh

I got so inspired by some of those links I posted earlier, I had to make a couple of them.

First, I made the playdough.   This is the BEST recipe I have ever found for playdough....it works and handles exactly like the Playdoh you buy from the store!    Very soft, very smooth, not sticky, and very easily moldable.  The kids have been playing with it all morning long!

Here are some cookies Caleb made with his playdoh:

Next, I made the  SuperCape....and this is just the first of three I'm planning to make, so all the kids will have one:

It was difficult to take good pictures because Noah was running away from me....he was enjoying the freedom, flying with his cape....

This one was the blurriest, but my favorite:

These pictures remind me of a graphic I made of Noah when he was about 4 months old....awww he was soooo little- time flies:

If any of you readers happen to make something from any of the tutorials that have been posted here, please let me know, and I'll be happy to post them for you, or put a link up to your blog post with the craft in it!

I've used this recipe for years, and I love it. I agree that it is the best, and it will keep well for quite a while. One fun thing I've done is to add a packet of Koolaid instead of using food coloring. Kids love it.

I do not think that this recipe is the best if your kiddos want to make permanent items to dry and keep for the long term. (years) I think that that it may have something to to with the oil.

That is one awesome super hero cape! I made capes for all my kids several years ago, but they weren't nearly that elaborate! I just cut a cape-shape out of the back of some old solid-color t-shirts, hemmed the edges, and added a tie at the top. But my kids didn't seem to mind, so I guess it's good. I made one for my oldest nephew, too, and his little brother is getting big enough for his own cape, so maybe now I know what he's getting for Christmas from me!

The recipe calls for a small packet of cream of tartar, well how much is that? I actually has a spice jar of cream of tartar.

I actually have no idea! I just guessed and put in about 2 tsp's, and it worked just fine!

I bought a sewing machine at a garage sale this summer with the intention of learning how to sew. I might have to try it out on these capes - my boys would LOVE them.
