Free Apron Pattern

I have a collection of books called, "Stitch by Stitch", and yesterday, I found a really cute apron pattern that I thought I'd share with you all.

I just love aprons and I know there are a lot of other apron fans who might like to make this one.    You need to click the images to enlarge them.

Edited to add:  I have been notified that the top left of the first scan is missing- the measurement that should be there is "2 inches".   I hope this helps anyone that needed that information.

Don't forget that you must click the images to enlarge them (you won't be able to read the pages otherwise).

If any of you happen to make this apron, please let me know, and send a picture! I'd love to post it here for everyone to see.

Hi, Bethany! I found your blog through the Misdiagnosed Miscarriage website after viewing the photos you posted. I just wanted to let you know that your photos were a big help to me after my miscarriage last month.

And also, I love this apron! I'm printing the instructions out right now. I've been wanting to make myself one and can't ever seem to find time, but maybe I can use this pattern and finally get one made.

You have a great site.I love aprons and use them all the time but what i do differently is to add a loop at the waist band to hold a hand cloth because I was always losing them. Now I don't and can change them as they get dirty or to damp.
    Have a great day!!

Rita, it may not be too hard to just take a regular child's apron pattern, and just sew a pocket on the front. I don't know of any patterns like what you're describing but if I see one I'll be sure to let you know!

    Hi Bethany,
Wanted you to know I made the apron. I blogged it. I do NOT recommend this pattern to a new or even medium sewer. The instructions are horrible. And I think people will get discouraged. The instructions refer to instructions that you didn't include.
Anyway it does turn out a cute apron.

    Thanks,
    PL

I am so sorry that the instructions were so hard to follow. I had never tried the apron myself, just saw the pattern and though the picture was cute, then posted it. Thanks for letting me know the difficulty level. Maybe, if you ever would like to post directions for it, I could link to your blog post and update this post? Thanks again for making the apron. It looks adorable!

I am your sister in Christ. Grateful to come across your inspiring website. I was looking for simple apron patterns that would be attractive enough for young ladies. I will make some as symbols of motherhood and femininity and give them as gifts in a rites of passage celebration we're having. Hopefully, these 18 year olds will actually use them to nurture their future families! And Bethany, your artwork is lovely and holy because the Lord used the unity in your marriage to nurture your talents. Glory to God! I, too have been blessed with a loving husband that nudges me to "be all that I can be"!

    Hi Bethany,

I'm not trying to be too invasive here, but my hubby just got laid off from his job for the 4th time in about 5 years. Job security here in CA is just about non-existant. We have 6 children (so far) and are considering widening the search for jobs. Can you point me to some desirable towns in your area? We are looking to sell our home in CA (probably have about ZERO equity right now as the market has dropped considerably - so we might rent it out). I'd really love to buy a FIXER for cheap on a piece of land at least an acre. Thanks for any help.

    Hi Bethany,
I am also a believer, and I love your cute apron. I am looking for a pattern to make an apron for my mother- she wants the kind that include sleeves. I've never seen a pattern like that, and just wondered if you have ever run accross one. I'm going to keep searching. My children are grown (youngest is almost 19), but I was a stay at home mom while they were young, and I loved being with them. The Lord bless you and your family this year- 2009!

    Bethany,
I appreciate your helpfulness in posting an apron pattern, but as an artist, I want to lovingly remind you that posting the copyrighted work of others is stealing.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, as a christian, I hope you'll understand. Your intentions to share should be weighed by the rights of the author to limit distribution to those who have paid for the authors creative work.
I noticed that your images are copyrighted. Please think how you would feel if someone copied your drawings and gave them away without paying you.

Hilary, thank you for your comments...I appreciate them.

I understand where you are coming from, however, I gave credit to the book series (Stitch by Stitch) for the pages I added to this, and anyone who sees it and wants to get more patterns (which there are hundreds of in each book) can easily find the books online and purchase them. Some works, such as patterns, are intended to be copied, and therefore unauthorized copying would fall under "fair use". My post was intended for non-profit educational purposes, and my intent never was to offend anyone or to cause any disrespect in any way. I hope you can understand. Thank you.

Maybe if you added the ISBN number and a link to where people can buy it from Amazon, Borders, etc then no one will complain about stealing. Oh well, you can't please everybody.

Hi Christine. I just started sewing again after almost forty years. I had to rely on my 8th grade sewing lessons. aarrggh. But I just got through making three curtains for my kitchen window, will very soon start my first quilt, and then start on sundresses, if I can find a pattern and I thought too that making small items that people don't wear often, such as this apron, would be great as gifts and made with all possibilites, and would be appreciated.
I used to wear aprons but modern day ladies in sweat shirts and jeans don't wear them. However, even expensive sweat shirts get stained! I have clothes to prove it. So go for it! Make a cute apron and if you do, good luck!

Just finished this apron. It turned out so cute. I agree with Prairie Lady. The instruction were incomplete but I was able to figure it out. I wish I had taken pictures as I went along to make an actual tutorial.
Also, I'm pretty short so the pattern should have been shortened by about an inch or two, the gathered bust doesn't line up quite right. I did gather in about and inch or two at the v and that helped.
Thanks so much for posting this. I love it!!

I was thankful to come across your site, it brightened a dreary sad day I was having myself. Moved to a new city with my spouse and been pregnant the past 2 years, so I dont know anyone. To pass the time I have started to sew, and my oldest Levi, now 2 absolutely loves to (pretend) cook and literally pushes a chair to the sink to "do dishes". I usually just pin two towels around him but it slides down and he usually gets soaked. I thought, well I am not an expert but could probably find an apron pattern and sew one. So, here I am. I read your 'about me' and I was impressed and felt warm-hearted by your honesty and open-ess. I am also very very excited to see the homeschooling links, as here in the city, the crime, sexual predators and secular extremes that have become a norm have kept me awake at night fearing the day I will have to let my kids go to school. Now I can investigate homeschooling as a reasonable and do-able alternative. God hear our prayers! thank you.
