Sculpting my hubby
I have begun working on a sculpture of my hubby. The clay was 25 dollars for 50 pounds, and is great to work with! Hubby was kind enough to build me an armature for the head....I forgot to take a picture of it before I started adding the clay...it was so great. It looked kind of like this:
You can see a tutorial on making one of these here:

Still have a lot of work to do with the eyes, and refining the hair, and changing the position of the ears a little. He's been very patient with me as I work on this!
Here are the steps I've taken so far:

Wow that is amazing!! You are such an all around gifted artist! I remember making something from clay in jr. high and it didn't turn out at all. It seems to me clay was very hard to work with but that was so long ago. I can't wait to see it when it's finished!

You are sooooo talented! I wonder if you can do them of your children? They probably wouldn't want to sit still and model very long!

Thank you so much!
I would love to do one of my children sometime...if I can figure out how to make the mold after this is finished (this is my first sculpture like this), so that I can get it bronzed, I will definitely be making more.

My gosh, I just discovered your blog (I was searching for murals, and yours came up!) and I love it. We have so much in common! I have a son, Noah also, though he's 17; I too homeschooled my children, I began staying at home with them in Jan. 2000, I paint & photograph...and I could go on! Its just nice to see another woman out there with such diverse interests, and such a busy life. Bravo to you. Thanks for posting, and know you've got a sister in paints out here!

Meredith, thank you so much for writing and letting me know your thoughts. I wish so badly that I (or anyone) could get through to her. I wish she could just understand the hurt she is putting others through. She simply won't listen. I tried emailing her too, but it didn't help. I hope that you'll always know that we protestant Christians are not all like that. ((hugs))
