How to Make Pur Water Filters Last Longer
If you have a Pur water filter, you probably know how expensive those can get!

Here's a way that I have found to stretch the amount of usage you can get out of one of these . You may have already figured this one out, but it was something I didn't know before.
A filter that you have attached to your faucet will start out with the water pouring out very quickly and easily, for a few weeks, it maintains this, and will fill a cup in less than 10 seconds.
After a certain amount of water has passed through it, after a few weeks, it will automatically begin slowing down the water pressure going through it, until you'll notice it takes a couple of minutes to pour a cup of water. It gets very annoying waiting for the water to come out, and when this has happened in the past, I have usually just decided to buy a new filter when this would happen. (I think this is the reason that the Pur manufacturers make the filter do this- to encourage people to buy new ones).
But then, one day I realized that if you take the filter out, and put the same filter back in, it will work like new again, and the water still tastes delicious and clear.. This has saved me a lot of money...and the water never tastes any worse (which is mainly why we buy the filters anyway). I am pretty sure that it is still doing a fine job of filtering. I have actually reused a couple of my filters up to 3 times. After that, I think they probably do need to be replaced.

I agree I think Pur probably does this to make more money. We had one for awhile but were constantly replacing the filters and they are very expensive as you know. My hubby put a filter on the water line going into the refrigerator water. So now we just drink that water we've had a filter on it for two years and it still works great. Of course up front its a lot more money but they sure last a long time
