Shopping at Aldi
I have read about Aldi in Tammy's blog many times...it sounds like such a great place to shop! I finally realized there is an Aldi close to our town, and decided to go today, to check it out.

Look at this...I have never seen this before! You put a quarter in to get your buggy...when you put the buggy back, the quarter pops back out!
What a cool incentive to put your buggies back where they belong!

I was really pleasantly surprised!! I think this will be my new place to go for Once a Month Shopping! The prices are almost ridiculously low!
I had already done my grocery shopping for this week, or I would have bought a lot more...however, there were a few things I saw that I could use:
I got a 10 pound bag of potatoes for $1.99!! '
2 cartons of mushrooms for .99 cents each
Two loaves of bread at .89 cents each
Package of strawberries for $1.69
30 size 5 diapers for $5.99
Family pack of ramen noodles $1.69
Look, white bread is only .49 cents a loaf! And wheat bread is .89 cents.

And the produce prices are equally awesome!

And LEAN ground beef, 2 1/2 pounds for only about 4.50!

I know some of you who visit the blog are shoppers at Aldi. I had never been there before today, so it's all new to me.
I didn't get much time to shop there today, but will be back soon. I think this is my new favorite grocery store!
By the way, check out Tammy's experience with Aldi here. She got some AWESOME DEALS!
Update: I made a mistake and linked to Tammy's KROGER experience! WOW, I am so ditzy sometimes!

I love Aldi too! The low prices definitely help out this SAHM. Our grocery bills have been cut in half. We really like the Aldi diapers too- I think your little one will be very comfy in them. Thanks for another wonderful post!

Thank you, Tara and Roxanne! The diapers worked great last night. Bonnie wears pullups but we have run out, so she also wore the diapers from Aldi last night., as well as Noah. Noah's diaper and her diaper worked all night with no problems. Plus, I love the stretchy elastic... that is the best diaper deal I have found anywhere!
How does Aldi have prices that are comparable or better than walmart's prices? How can they do it? I'm stumped!

Bethany,
I love Aldi and shop there all the time! There is a blog called "The Aldi Queen" and she does a shopping list and recipes for each week, with all the groceries coming from Aldi. I would link you, but I'm not sure of the address. I will try to get it and post it for you. Anyway, all of her recipes that I have tried are really good.
I'm glad you found Aldi!

I have been shopping at Aldi since I was a little girl! My dad always loved that place. Did you figure out that you can pick up the empty boxes in the store and use those to put your groceries in instead of buying bags? I always love to do that but end up buying a few bags anyway.

Hi Bethany! I, too, love Aldi! I've been shopping there since I was fairly young (11 or 12?) and am thankful my mom passed on that frugal tip to me.

So you've discovered Aldis!
So it's not organic, but the food is decent enough.

Re: shopping buggies for a quarter...almost ALL of the supermarkets here in Canada have that system, which I appreciate, but sometimes it's inconvenient if you don't have a quarter available. TIP: What I do is keep some quarters in my car, so I always have them on hand! Too bad we don't have Aldi's over here, across the border

I didn't know they were almost all like that in Canada! I'll bet that would be a pain at places like Walmart!
I'm surprised how many of you are Aldi shoppers!
Thank you so much for the link to "The Aldi Queen"....I'll definitely be checking her site out while doing my Once a Month cooking plan!!

I was so excited when I found out about Aldi's. I do the majority of my shopping there every week. I dig the prices so much I even drive an extra ten miles to get there instead of shopping at the nearby stores.

I love Aldi too! I buy most groceries there, but I still have to go to the regular grocery for dog food (I don't trust generics for my little Grrrty) and I still like name brand paper products better than no name. I'm glad you found an Aldi nearby!

One of the ways that I have tried to cut my grocery bill is to shop at more than one store when I grocery shop.
