A quick and easy way to mop floors!

This is how I mop the floors in our home.  I wonder if any of you do it the same way? It's so much easier than using a mop and bucket!

First, I get a large towel, and some 409 orange scented spray (my favorite scent for cleaners).
I spray down the floor, and wait about 2 minutes.

Next, I get the towel and lay it on the floor by the sink. I  get the sink sprayer and spray the towel till it's completely wet.    Then, using my feet, I skate around the floor with the towel, cleaning all the areas which have been sprayed.

Once this is finished,  I will either let the floor dry on it's own, or I will get another towel to skate around to dry the floor off.

The floor is mopped and clean in less than 5 minutes, and with minimal effort!

Works for me!

I do this too!! This is how they taught us to clean floors in Army Basic Training. It was the fastest way to get the job done in the 10 minutes they gave us for morning cleaning. I can't believe anyone uses a mop and bucket when this simple technique exists. And you can just toss the towels in the washer instead of dealing with a stinky mop over and over again!

This is hilarious! Sounds like it would work though...I'm not a regular reader, but it seems like I keep stumbling on your blog more and more, so maybe I should stop by more often! I'll have to try this next week when it's time to mop - I HATE mopping, and this sounds like a little more fun. Seems like kids would get a kick out of it too - although I don't think my ten month old would understand. LOL. Blessings!

That's cool! I do alot of "cheating" in house cleaning too! My house is cleaner since I discovered the art of "shortcuts" instead of waiting and waiting to have the time to do something the "proper way". Who has time for that when you have little ones?

Well, I recently discovered the spray bottle trick, but I've never tried skating!
That sounds like a useful tip actually--I've been having trouble keeping my kitchen floor clean!

THANK YOU! I HATE mopping, so I avoid it with everything I have. This sounds like something I can actually do. I love finding these kind of shortcuts. You made my day.

We did this today!! I took pictures. I'll blog about it later. Yehoshua loved it. Eliyahu hated it. He slipped and fell a couple times, and I ended up carrying him the whole time!

Hi Bethany! I just discovered your blog through Tammy's Recipes, and I want to say that your idea is a brilliant solution to my problem. I have arthritis in my knees, and can't wash any of my floors on my hands and knees, which I would prefer doing, since I've always been dissatisfied with traditional mopping: often leaves streaks, and all that fuss! I'll try your tip and expect that the results may very well be as good as if I were down on my knees! Where have I been all these years?? So many of your readers say they do the same thing--well, I NEVER thought of this one, LOL.

Oh that's awesome, Brenda! I'm so happy to think this might help you. It is a REAL pain in the neck to get down on hands and knees to clean when you don't actually have to. Be sure to let me know if it works for you!

I'm not too bright Bethany. Can you make a video of yourself doing that ? Kidding ... but feel free to make a video anyway lol.

Haven't check up on you in some time. Just maybe because when I have time to surf, I'm also hungry and was always afraid to encounter one of your delicious food.

I hope everyone is well and looks to be. Take care fellow artist.

It is good to learn that others also use the towel method of mopping floors. I use my old towels cut up and one for each foot. It does burn calories and does a better job of getting into the corners. The floor does get cleaned more often with this method.
Thanks Bethany for letting us know how you clean your floors.
