Nutmeg cookies & Sausage Tomato Pasta with Basil

This afternoon, I realized I had bought nutmeg a while back and never used it for anything yet.   So I had to change that!     I looked on the internet for "Nutmeg Cookies", and printed the first recipe I came to.  You can see it right here.
The nutmeg cookies turned out very good!   I got some mmmmm's from everyone in the family, and even James' friend who came over tonight.

Also, for supper, I was looking through my "30 minutes or less" cookbook, and found a recipe that I could make.   It called for Italian Sausage, but I do not like italian sausage...I decided to use HOT regular sausage instead.
You would not BELIEVE how good it turned out this way.  DEFINITELY use something hot, if you are into spicy stuff.  If not, just use regular sausage.

I was in love with the dish after one bite!   It is GOOOOOOOOD.

Here is the recipe as I used it (I changed around a few things)

12 oz vermicelli or speghetti
1 lb hot sausage
1 large onion, chopped
1 bellpepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
2 to 3 tablespoons dried basil
1/4 cup chopped parsley, or dried
3/4 to 1 cup grated or shredded parmesan cheese
1/4 cup olive oil

1.) In a 5 to 6 quart pan, bring about 3 quarts water to a boil over high heat.  Stir in pasta and cook, uncovered, until just tender to bite. (about 10 minutes).

2.) Meanwhile, get the sausage out and crumble meat into a wide, nonstick frying pan.  Cook over medium high heat, stirring often, until the meat begins to brown.   Add onion  bellpepper, and garlic, and continue to cook....(I've noticed that if you cook this on med-low heat with a lid, it will cook through faster).
Add tomatoes from can, and bring to boil.

3.) Drain pasta well, and in a large bowl, combine basil, parsley, the cheese, and the olive oil.

4.) Top with sausage-tomato sauce.   Enjoy!  (I know I did!)

Oooh, that looks so good! I've never bought hot sausage, but I have regular in my freezer. I think I will try that recipe next week.

Your cookies are also so pretty. I love nutmet and just got one of those nutmeg graters, but haven't used it since Christmas. I think I'll try those, too!

This looks so good and the fact that it is "quick" makes it even better. Maybe I'll make it tomorrow By the way, I made the Magnificent Casserole yesterday and my family loved it...
