Sewing the Neckline on a dress

I asked the wonderful ladies at www.momys.com to help me with a problem I was having- I had no idea what those front facing and back facing pieces were for when sewing.   I'm so new to this, and the instructions in the pattern bag are not that helpful for a beginner like me!

I was looking for something that could really help...it really helps to have pictures so that I can visually understand what the instructions are.

A very sweet lady named Jennifer helped me by actually taking pictures while she sewed a dress!  It was so kind of her to do this. I decided if any of you have trouble with this and are beginning at sewing, you might be able to use the pictures she sent me also. I got her permission to post them here.  Thank you so much, Jennifer!!

Step 1- Sewing front and back together
Step 2- Neck facings
Step 3- Shoulder seams

Step 4- Another picture of bodice
Step 5- Facing sewn to bodice
Step 6- Inside view of neckhole
Step 7- Trimming extra fabric
Step 8- Adding notches
Step 9- Ironing neck facing
Step 10- Topstitch

Hope this is as helpful to you, as it was to me!
