Dear Cheryl

Cheryl,

Thank you for posting your comments here. It really does do my heart good to know that something posted here might help someone.    I really hope that if you do get started you'll keep me updated on how you do! I'd be more than happy to share pictures of what you've done.

I have been on your site recemly getting ideas for a binder, and saw this post. I checked out your previous one about OAMC and was impressed. This must be your second month doing this, right?
I am inspired, but have 6 kids that I homeschool and have no idea when I could cook enough for a month. I am going to think about it. I know it must seem funny that people you don't know are inspired by your blog, but thanks.
Let us know how it goes.

Yes, this will be my second month doing this, and the first time was completely exhausting...so I know where you're coming from.   It does take a lot of time and prep work, but in the end, it truly is worth it!

Just a quick question, how old are your kids?  If they are old enough, they might be able to help you out as you are working.  The littler ones could take your garbage (which you will have a lot of ...like potato skins, bags, etc) into the garbage cans....your older ones might be able to help you in doing prep work like cutting the onions, if you have taught them how to use a knife well.

Maybe you could have them help you by just stirring the meat (which there will be a lot of as well), or the speghetti sauce, etc.   (this actually is GREAT for a homeschooling activity!)

If you think they might be more trouble than help, it might be a better idea to set up some kind of babysitting....preferably, right there at your home.... for that weekend that you are doing the prep and cooking.

It usually takes about 3 days to do everything. The first of those days is the grocery shopping day, and you could probably take the kids with you on that one, but the preparation and cooking, it's possible you could use some help!

Does your mother or a close relative or friend live nearby who might be willing to come over and keep an eye on them for you while you work?  It might be hard to convince someone to watch all 6, but maybe they would be willing to, possibly even out of interest to see how you get along with your Once a month cooking!

Let me know if you figure out something!    And thanks for your comments!
